Have you heard the statement “Repeated lies become truth” and wondered how? Or have you seen that once a person achieves a goal it becomes for others also to achieve the same goal easily, or have you experienced that once you believe a certain thing causes you a certain result then that thing will start to cause that same result only every time you use it.

‘Believe and it shall be done’

What is Placebo effect?

Placebo is a Latin word for ‘I will please’, which basically means that something which is presented as the real thing but is actually just a ‘dummy’. The placebo effect is triggered by the person’s belief in it. Placebo effect is the connection between mind and body and how as per your beliefs and expectations you can get similar results. It is just tricking your mind to believe something that is not true or beneficial into making it true and beneficial. In many cases placebo effect has helped in Reduction in pain, depression and reducing anxiety. Imagination is powerful healing or Belief in certain things will give you healing.

Experiments on Placebo Effect

  • Many studies have been conducted to see the effect of Placebos and in many of them the patients were given sugar pill or saline injection but were told that they were receiving a potential painkiller or medicine for their treatment. The patients in return shoed the results similar to that of taking a real medicine. Due to your expectation that this medicine is right and going to help you, you trick your mind into believing and as a result of it your mind will start to produce natural painkillers and relief hormones.
  • In some other experiments researchers gave the volunteers same cream/ drug but they said to the Group 1 volunteers that this cream/ drug is highly effective in reducing the pain quickly and o the Group 2 volunteers they said that this cream/ drug is going to give them the strength to control the pain. When observed after a week the group 1 volunteers showed the results of cream being highly effective and providing quick relief while on the other hand the Group 2 volunteers showed that the cream gave them the strength to control their pain and the pain decreased eventually after hours of application. This shows that the results were highly influenced by the expectations of the user.

Neuroscience of Placebo Effect

As I have said many times your brain is the only thing you ever need to get whatever the F you want, because your brain has the power to naturally heal you, influence your life’s decisions, circumstances and your reality. It is just the matter of belief you place on the assumption.

  • Expectation and past experiences – Your brain has more storage and RAM then your mobile phones, you may not consciously remember the events of your childhood or teenage but your brain has a very good record of all the events that have shaped you and your beliefs. For example, In your childhood maybe you had a certain food or dish and soon after having it you got sick. Now your brain has linked the two events, so now whenever you have that food you get sick so you just don’t have it because now you think that this food is the reason behind your sickness. You are already expecting that food to make you sick and due to past experience your brain gives you the same result.
  • Opioid Release – Your brain has the power to produce its own natural pain killer like endorphins and opioids. Placebo effect triggers your brain to release these chemicals to reduce the pain.
  • Neuro pathways – Certain placebos can trigger the neuro transmitters of your brain and create pathway signals to brain from the spine which gives the same signals up on receiving the real treatment.
  • Hormonal release – Placebos can affect the release of hormones such as dopamine to give you the feeling of pleasure and well – being.
  • Brain Regions Involved: Several brain regions are implicated in the placebo effect, including the prefrontal cortex (involved in expectation), insula (involved in pain processing), amygdala (involved in emotions), and hypothalamus (involved in hormone regulation).
  • Not just Pain: The placebo effect goes beyond pain relief. It can influence immune function, mood, and other bodily processes.

Using Placebo effect to Manifest

As we all know manifestation is deciding on something and knowing that you already have it or expecting it with full confidence, here the placebo effect plays a huge role because you are tricking your mind into believing that you already have something without any evidence of it currently.

Using manifestation techniques like affirmations, visualization and scripting is nothing more than the science behind your desires. It’s like you’re giving a ‘placebo’ to yourself. That is the reason every coach says that believe or have faith that your desires are already true. When practicing manifestation, a person may be able to create a “placebo effect” in their subconscious mind and physical body. They use visualization to create a clear picture of their desire in their minds and imagine how they would truly feel in the moment if their wish were to materialize.

In the context of manifestation, the placebo effect shares similarities in the sense that one’s beliefs and mindset can influence outcomes. When people strongly believe in the power of manifestation to bring about positive change, they may experience a placebo-like effect, where their expectations shape their experiences and outcomes.

So, understanding the above it is clear that Placebo effect is the basis of manifestation. Now, if you just build up a belief that doing one thing will cause you to manifest your certain desire, then you can try it and see amazing results.

For example, if a tarot reader suggests you that writing you and your partner’s name with red pen on a bay leaf and then burning it on the new moon will make your partner attracted towards you. If you clearly see it’s just placebo effect or the result of your belief in the ritual that is playing the role here.

Try to link things up with each other and make your own assumptions like, If I drink 8 glasses of water everyday my skin will become clear, or every time I see a red car something good happens with me. This will not only make your life fun but you’ll attract things easily.
